A Royal Mouse Party

In the heart of London a royal family resides, the Royal Mouse family. As with any royal family, King and Queen Mouse live in a beautiful palace, more precisely under the grand entrance steps to London’s Buckingham Palace. It is widely known this palace is also home to the Royal Windsor family of the United Kingdom and the Queen is often there preparing for her royal engagements.
The Royal Mouse family has lived underneath the palace entrance for many years and enjoy the many privileges that come with their royal status. The finest cheese, tasty apple pie, rich chocolate truffles, cucumber sandwiches and English breakfast tea are some the treats the Royal Mouse family enjoys.

King and Queen Mouse decide to hold a grand ball in their underground palace chambers and asked the mouse butler to deliver invitations to the neighbouring royal families. The invitation list included the Grand Order of Woodmice, Baron and Baroness Bank vole, the Royal Society of Ladybirds and the Grand Duke of Frogs. The local royal parks held many creatures and the news of the grand ball quickly spread.

The day of the ball arrived and King and Queen Mouse opened the mouse-sized palace doors to their guests eagerly waiting at the front of the palace. The grand entrance was decorated with the finest ivy and woodland flowers freshly picked by the mice. The household had worked very hard to prepare the ballroom and the grand feast awaiting their guests.

Some of the guests arrived bearing gifts for the royal household. Duke and Duchess Dormouse had brought a collection of their finest hazelnuts, Baron and Baroness Bank Vole offered woven baskets made from the finest reeds on the river bank. The guests entered the grand ballroom and the bumble bee band played vibrant music and the dancing began. The voles were dancing perfectly in a line, and the butterflies were swirling in time to the music. Monsieur mole was bumping into everyone but soon was helped into the dance rhythm by the Duke of Frogs.

Once all the guests had enjoyed a dance the grand dinner was served, the finest seeds and of course the royal mouse household favourite, cheese. The royal guests drank their fill of fresh blackberry juice, followed by a dessert of chestnut ice cream and damson jelly. With bellies full, everybody felt very content and as the evening drew to a close the guests made their way out of the underground palace. A queue of fancy pigeons was lined up outside the palace entrance to be used as taxis to transport the guests back to the royal parks. The last guests flew off and King and Queen Mouse retuned to the quiet of the palace. The royal ball was a great success.
